Married Life

So we haven’t done a post in a long time, sorry!

It’s officially been 6 months of marriage bliss! From entertaining to working to traveling and having a lots of fun in between, the past 6 months have really flown by.

We spent most of June in French Polynesia on our honeymoon (enjoying the beautiful islands of Tahiti, Moorea, and Bora Bora).

In the end of the month we went to Oahu for a week to help out with (and attend) a Mike Larson Photography Workshop. We both learned a lot from Mike’s experiences and business integrity and wisdom. We’ve been implementing some of his strategies and ideas into Noah’s photography business model, and have been able to pass on a lot of wisdom to other photographer/small business owner friends!

In July, we settled into the “River Shack” (or, as our friend Nate refers to it, the “Love Shack”!) – a small cottage on the Hanalei River which sits on land that Noah’s family owns. They are kindly and generously letting us reside there until the end of the year! We also spent lots of time catching up on work, getting new photo jobs, and entertaining friends!

August was, like July, full of work and (for Becky) baby shower planning for friends! Tis the season!

The following month we went on a surf/photo/video trip to Sumatra, Bali, and Grajagan (G-land) in Indonesia with Noah’s sister, Bethany, and brother, Tim. We got some great waves at Padang Padang on Bali – and had fun exploring the islands! Watch a short surf video of Bethany from the trip! Becky was mainly filming, and Noah was mainly shooting still photos of Bethany.

We have also been helping to pioneer a non-profit organization called Friends of Bethany Hamilton. It received official non-profit status from the IRS in August, so we’re finally getting the ball rolling, and it has been fun! We’re working with the other board members on an official logo design and branding, creating PR materials, and designing the website better. We have already sent out about a dozen Encouragement Packages to recent Shark Attack Survivors and Traumatic Amputees. They include (usually) Bethany’s book, Soul Surfer, and documentary DVD, Heart of a Soul Surfer. We’re still working out all the kinks of getting this organization on it’s feet, but we’re off to a good start, and we have some great ideas and plans for the future! Please offer your suggestions, feedback, and ideas for the organization, and help us out in any way you can!

In late September, we found out that Becky’s grandpa, Geoff Humphries, had passed away. It was very unexpected. So we flew out to California for his memorial service and burial on Oct 10th. He was a wonderful grandpa, and he will be missed. We were very happy that he had been able to join us for our wedding earlier this summer!!

The trip to California allowed for us to visit with both sides of Becky’s extended family, and also Noah’s grandma. And we got to see many of Becky’s college roommates, including Kate who had just given birth to a darling baby girl, Presley!

AND we were blessed to attend one of Becky’s good friends from high school, Emily Kantorak’s, wedding to her now husband Chad Sterbens. It was fun to see a lot of Becky’s cherished friends from Chino at the wedding!

The rest of October was a whirlwind! We were working hard. Noah got a job working with Kevin and Emily Durham, the founders of This Iz My Story, filming Bethany’s and local surfer Jesse Guglielmana’s testimonies. The video stories will be posted when they’re done being edited. But this is a cool organization, so check them out! We had a really great time working and hanging out with Kevin and Emily and became instant (and eternal) friends!

Now, heading into November, we are working on updating Noah’s website, creating flyers for portraiture and weddings, business cards, selling some photo/computer equipment, and taking care of general business. Noah has a few photo shoots booked and a few in the works. If you’re on island and want to book a PORTRAIT session for the holidays, please give Noah a call at 652-7667!

We had so much fun surfing this past weekend. Thank you God for that fun swell!

AND we just got word from our wedding photographers, Chris+Lynn Photographers, that they are going to create a sample album from our wedding photos for their studio!!! They said our wedding was their favorite of the year (probably cause we pretty much planned our wedding around photography!)! But, seriously, what an honor!!!

We are also very excited that Noah’s sister, Bethany, has received a wild card entry into the Gidget Pro CT event at Sunset Beach on Oahu. And, since this will be her first CT event entry, we’ll probably head over there to watch!

Well, that was long, but you can get an idea of what our life has been like!

God bless!
Noah & Becky
